Englewood Cosmetic Medical Spa – Procedures

Think of your face and body as a canvas. Cosmetic procedures to improve your appearance and make you look younger are really an art form. At Englewood Cosmetic Medical Spa, clients can choose from a variety of minimally invasive procedures that enhance appearance and turn back the clock. You are in the hands of a board-certified medical doctor who practices artistry on your face.

Laser Hair Removal

No one enjoys shaving, waxing or plucking. Laser hair removal rids you of unwanted hair for the long term, and in some cases, permanently. With laser hair removal, a highly-concentrated light beam enters the hair follicles. Pigment in these follicles absorbs the light, and the absorption eliminates the hair.

While laser treatment can remove hair anywhere on your body, it requires more than one treatment session. That’s because the laser only removes hair in its growth phase, when there is enough pigment. Dormant hairs take a few weeks to reach growth stage, so another visit is needed. Most people require between four and seven sessions to get rid of unwanted hair, with treatment every 4 to 6 weeks.

Botox

As we age, our skin loses collagen – the protein responsible for firmness – and thus elasticity. The result is lines and wrinkles. Botox can help reverse the signs of aging by plumping up those telltale creases.

Injections are delivered via tiny needles, and you’ll barely feel them. FDA-approved Botox consists of minute amounts of *Clostridium botulinum. *When injected, Botox prevents the underlying muscle from contracting, so wrinkles soften and dissipate.

Botox results aren’t instantaneous, but you should notice diminishing lines and wrinkles within five days of treatment. Within two weeks, you’ll see the full effect. Return for another visit at that time for an assessment. Some patients may need another injection or two at the two-week point.

Facial Fillers

If you’d like fuller lips, fewer wrinkles and/or more volume in your face, facial fillers are the way to go. Also known as dermal fillers, these procedures consist of injecting the filler into the treatment area.

Depending on the type of filler used, you may experience instant results. There are various types of facial fillers to choose from, and these include:

  • Calcium hydroxylapatite
  • Collagen
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Fat
  • Polylactic acid

Some facial fillers are best suited to treat specific sites. For example, polylactic acid works best on lines in the lower portion of the face.

Chemical Peel

Rejuvenate your skin with a chemical peel. Along with wrinkles, a chemical peel can help eradicate acne and other scars and improve sun-damaged, pigmented or sagging skin and its overall texture. Basically, the chemical peel exfoliates old, tired skin and allows new, younger-looking skin to come forth. Chemical peels vary in strength, and deeper peels require a longer recovery time. Peel strengths include:

  • Light – the chemicals used in a light peel contain an alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acid combination. This mild peel may result in some redness and skin flaking. Because it’s fast and easy, it’s earned the moniker “lunchtime peel.”
  • Medium – the chemical used for the medium peel is usually trichloroacetic acid. At this strength, skin cells from both the epidermis – the outer layer – and the dermis – the upper middle layer – are removed.Deeper scars and wrinkles respond to medium strength peels. It can take several weeks for your skin to appear normal post-peel.
  • Deep peels – The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery states that a person can undergo a deep peel just once in a lifetime – but the results might last a decade. This type of peel can get rid of the deepest wrinkles, but it requires a considerable recovery period, including time off work.
